Four generations of ladies

Last weekend we went out to Iowa to see family. AnnMarie's grandmother has Alzheimers and is in an assisted care facility. She has been getting worse as time goes on and we wanted to go visit while we can.

We planned the trip so we would be there the same time as AnnMarie's mom and dad. We were generously put up by her Aunt Julie and Uncle Clayton. It was a great hook up for us and so nice not to have to worry about a hotel room and being able to spend some time with family we rarely get to see.

Great Grandma has advanced Alzheimers and has trouble remembering people, knowing where she is, etc. When Maggie was put on her lap she perked up, had some few sentences and had such a radiant smile. The lady had 13 children and you could tell she still has the Gift of Mom.

Here are some pics from the wonderful weekend. We took a 4 generations picture. Maggie is lucky enough be the only person I know who has pictures with both great grandmothers.

Mulch Madness

I misspoke in the video. We had the mulch delivered Friday the same afternoon this video was shot.

We might pick up an additional 1 or 2 cubic yards in a few weeks to finish the job. The 3 cubic yards we spread didn't cover as much as I wanted.

A serious conversation

Thursday I was sitting on the sofa with Maggie cuddling on my lap when Maggie looks at me and says,"What do I smell?" I sniff and it was the scent of a Maggie butt burp. I tell her I knew it was her butt burp. She was upset by this.

It seems in her mind either type of burp is not the emission or the scent it is the sound. Since she told me she didn't hear anything it was not a butt burp and regardless of how I tried to explain it she was very serious and it was NOT a butt burp.

Debating the finer points of silent butt deadly with a 4 year old who is not seeing any humor in it was just another unexpected twist to the silly that is Maggie.
